Every Shoe A Woman Should Own + Summer Styles
It’s safe to say that I love shoes! I have been collecting them for decades. Some I haven’t worn for years but they still look so pretty in my shoe closet, which is something I dreamed about having since I was a little girl.
I just love my shoes! And as a personal shopper, the majority of the shoes I buy, I find on sale, unless I fall in love with something special. If you’re looking to build a shoe closet, it’s fairly easy, especially with a handymen -— they can install some shelves or make a custom closet. Or if you don’t want to deal with all of that, a book case is also a great option.
Even though I have a crazy amount of shoes, I tend to gravitate towards 6 styles…
Classic Black Heel
Whether it’s summer, winter, fall or spring — a little black heel is just like the little black dress — they’re always in style. I suggest investing in a quality shoe for this one because you’ll get so much use out them and they’ll last much longer.
Booties are staples for me the majority of the year— especially living in Chicago. A good, basic suede boot is fabulous, but don’t be afraid to go bold like the ones in the picture below. Pops of color can make the perfect statement with jeans, a tee and a great blazer.
As soon as the weather allows me to, I whip out my strappy sandals. There’s something about them that just gives me confidence as I walk down the street. Plus, most styles can go from work to happy hour very easily. For your summer wedding lineup, I highly recommend investing in one nude set and one colorful — and maybe a black pair as well!
I’m a woman who loves her heels, but every once in awhile a girl has to wear flats. Instead of going super casual with a canvas shoe, I still like to show some glam, so I love these metallic gold loafers. I live in these on days when I’m running around. My favorite brands are Nicholas Kirkwood and Proenza Schoule.
Over the Knee
Over the Knee boots are the ultimate way to be sexy while covered up. You can pair these boots with jeans, this short dress or a mini skirt. I recommend sticking with black so you can get even more use out of them, but colored knee highs are definitely OK too.
Stylish On-The-Go Sneakers
Sneakers are an absolute must-have for any busy mom on the go. The Adidas Superstar shoe has made a serious style statement recently with lots of fun color options. Another one of my favorite, but is a little pricier, is Golden Goose — such great style and fit!
I love summer because almost anything goes when it comes to shoes. It’s the best time to try new styles and colors. Even though I don’t discriminate when it comes to my shoes, below are my favorites for the upcoming season!
Chunky Heel Mules
If you choose one of these three summer trends to execute — choose the chunky heel mule! It is very on trend right now and, in my opinion, is more comfortable than a stiletto because the heel offers so much more support.
This is a must-have for moms in the summer! Slip them on and head out the door. To keep things trendy, look for slides with small details — one of my favorites is pearls!
Embellished + Colorful Sandal
Have some fun with your sandals this summer! Yes, you need those staple pieces, but once you have the basics covered, look for embellishments and bright colors! Think details like beadwork, over-the-top stitching, tassels or extra floral details. Every woman needs an outrageous statement pair of sandals in her wardrobe!
