I think we all have those random pieces in our wardrobe that we haven’t worn in a while, but love and refuse to get rid of. Graphic tees might fall into this category, but they’re so fun. Because of this, I thought I’d put together some tips on how to style them. This way you can wear yours a little more often and with more than just blue jeans (even though I love jeans)!
I think the key to successfully style a graphic tee is to dress it up a little bit. On days when I’m busy chasing after the kids, it’s great to throw one on with jeans, but I want to step outside the box today. For this look, I decided to play with opposites — something I do a lot when dressing clients and putting together outfits. What do I mean by this? The graphic tee is very casual on the top, so on the bottom I’m wearing one of my favorite, extra feminine skirts by Christina Karin. By doing this, you create balance and make the look something you can wear for almost any occasion.
Of course I love layers, especially living in Chicago (one minute it’s raining, the next it’s very hot). So I topped off the graphic tee with this moto jacket by Maje (I’m obsessed with this jacket and wear it constantly!). I chose to wear blush because the tee is black. The soft color keeps everything light and delicate.
You also always need a good pair of cool sunglasses to go with a graphic tee. They help tie together the harder look with the feminine one. I suggest aviators like the ones I’m wearing — the ombre lens is very trendy right now.
I had to finish this outfit with a pair of Golden Goose Sneakers. They’re a little pricey, but you can get so much use out of them because they’re the perfect casual shoe. Wearing embellished sneakers or metallic loafers with skirts and dresses is a trend I love this summer. It’s so easy to slide them on and run around town, but still feel confident you look stylish.
I also adore this tote by Alexander Wang. Pick something bold with a pattern and this look will be perfect!
