THE NEW WAY FOR MOMS TO SHOP: FUNDAY
As a mom I love spending time with my family, and I always enjoy finding unique activities for us all to enjoy. It’s no secret I enjoy shopping but Katya and Leonix don’t always enjoy going from store to store with me, it’s not quite as enjoyable for them yet! I’ve struggled to find a way to enjoy shopping while keeping them entertained and happy. However, recently I came across Funday Kidsplay at Westfield Old Orchard Mall and the concept has truly been a gamechanger for us. So much so I HAD to share our experience with you.
Funday was founded by two women, Bela Lopes and Kiki Silva, from Brazil. I had the opportunity to meet both women to hear more about their story and what led them to starting their business. The ladies explained to me that in Brazil it’s common to have playrooms at malls where parents are able to drop off their kids while they shop. After moving to the United States they realized this wasn’t an available service here and because they experienced the convenience of it in Brazil, decided to open Funday to introduce the concept to the American market.
I was pleasantly surprised at the commute on my trip to Funday with Katya – it only took 25 minutes from the city to Old Orchard! I decided to plan a fun Sunday afternoon with Katya and my dear friend Natalia and her kids. Katya typically doesn’t get attached to places but ever since her first trip to Funday she literally begs me to go, it was the perfect opportunity to shop and allow Katya to have a play-date with her friends. It’s seriously our new go-to play-date spot!
WHAT TO DO AT FUNDAY
One thing I was so impressed by with Funday was the elevated experience they created for the kids. They have so many different activities including art projects, dancing, and a basketball court. They offer special camps and programs on holidays, too. Katya and her friends were having so much fun with the coolest videos games they have there on HUGE screens. I seriously can’t get over how cool FunDay is and how much they have for the kids to do there!
SHOPPING AT WESTFIELD OLD ORCHARD
I haven’t spent a huge amount of time at Westfield Mall in the past, so I was excited to check out their stores to do some shopping. The mall offers a great range of stores, which is perfect for an afternoon of shopping! Bloomingdale’s is a great destination while at the mall because they have such a wide selection of merchandise. One of the things I’ve always loved about department stores like Bloomingdale’s is everything is under one roof. Plus, they always have great sale finds and it’s very closet to Funday!
Another one of our favorite stops during our afternoon was Akira. They are great if you’re looking for trendy pieces at reasonable prices. They usually have great sales going on, too. And can’t forget JCrew while at Old Orchard, I love their kids selection! Keep scrolling to see some of the pieces Natalia and I found while shopping at Bloomingdale’s! I also have some of the pieces linked on the shop page.
THE ULTIMATE WEEKEND
After Natalia and I did some shopping for a couple of hours we went back to Funday to pick up the kids and head to lunch with more friends that joined us. In my book, it was the ultimate day! The kids were able to have fun together at Funday, I was able to get some shopping in, and we wrapped up with lunch together. We had lunch at California Pizza Kitchen where we had wine and the best pizza (order California Pizza) and the most yummy butter cake! Does it get any better than that? We all left so happy and we’ll definitely be back very soon.
As a special offer, Funday is offering 10% off to anyone mentioning my name or this blog post!
Katya loves dressing in matching outfits, especially when we spend an afternoon together. Lola and the Boys is our go-to for mommy and me outfits lately. Denim jackets are perfect for a shopping day, too. I love this denim jacket with fur to match the kids version. Lola and the Boys is offering a special promo to readers when entering Tali15 at checkout.
