ELEVATE YOUR RESORTWEAR WITHOUT SPENDING A DIME

resortwear

That’s a wrap for this week’s IG Live event! We talked about all the classic resort trends that you most likely already have in your closet. Starting from button down shirts that you can wear over your suits and with denim shorts, the versatility of kimonos and scarves, flattering swimwear, and must have accessories. Pro tip: if you’re going for a short trip and plan packing strategically and stick to one color palette, then you can definitely get away with just one carry on and a big tote bag.
If you missed the live event, I am sharing a full recap on resort wear. Let’s dive in…

METALLIC NAILS

The biggest trend we are seeing in 2021 is not even clothing, it’s metallic nails! I love this idea for resort especially because jewelry is not always an option at the beach. Gold or silver painted nails brings in elevated, luxury feel to your resort wear without risking losing your diamonds in the ocean.

DENIM

Denim is a classic, but this year it is coming back in a big way. Even designers like Chanel and Balmain are utilizing denim on runways for their resort collections!  Style denim shorts with a one-piece suit to give the bodysuit appearance. Or, a matching set vibe with shorts and a denim jacket! You can also dress up your trendy loose-fit jeans or shorts with wedges and a breezy top for lunch, dinner, or shopping.

BUTTON DOWN SHIRTS

My personal favorite way to style for resort is a white button-down shirt worn as a coverup. You can shop your boyfriend or husband’s closet for the oversized, worn in vibe! I also love denim button downs to go with the denim trend. Just style it over your one piece with sandals and statement accessories for an effortless look.

KIMONOS

I never pack for vacation without bringing at least one kimono! They are so versatile. The obvious choice is a kimono as a swim coverup, but I really love to add a belt and wear a kimono as a dress! This is especially perfect for elevating your resort wear for a vacation date night.

SCARVES

There are so many trendy options for wearing scarves this season. You can style a scarf as a shawl/coverup, or a sarong skirt! A huge trend is tying the scarf in the back and wearing it like a top. Another unexpected way is to tie a scarf around your bag handles for a stylish and fun pop of color!

SWIMWEAR

Yes, it’s possible to wear figure flattering swimwear, even as a mom! I simply can’t get enough of unique one piece swimsuits. After having kids I feel much more comfortable in one pieces to hide the tummy area. Fortunately, one piece suits are a great way to flatter any body shape while enjoying your beach vacation and they are so trendy right now. I especially love cutout one-piece suits. Style your one-piece with denim shorts and it looks just like a bodysuit, appropriate for date night outfit!

If you aren’t into the one piece look, try a two-piece coordinating set with high waisted bottoms. The biggest swim trends this year is suits with details like sculpted tops, cutouts, ruffles, prints, and sleeves! The idea is for swim tops to be wearable with your outfits. The color trends are pastels and neutrals with soft prints and textures!
