SUIT UP! FIVE NEW WAYS TO STYLE SUITS

NEW WAYS TO STYLE SUITS - WHITE LACE ZARA SUIT

As a boss lady, I definitely own a lot of suits. I am constantly in meetings and at events where I am dressing for business. However, suits don’t have to be saved just for the office! I love wearing a matching suit set as my everyday outfit, but of course I have to make it stylish. Here are five new ways to make your office outfits playful and chic!

1. PLAY WITH PATTERN

Instead of wearing a solid color black or navy suit, try a fun pattern! I always find that wearing something unexpected makes a big impact. I love plaid and stripes for a blazer and trouser set.

Neutralize your bold pattern with a solid color blouse, but don’t be afraid to add another pop with a fresh bag or pair of statement pumps. Just be sure that the colors in your patterns coordinate if you mix.

2. TRY DIFFERENT TEXTURES

If you aren’t much of a pattern person, stick to a solid color but in a different texture. I recently wore this velvet set from Sies Marjian and I can’t believe all of the comments I received! The color is rich but the velvet really elevated the look and made a statement out of my simple suit. Other texture ideas are satin or lace.

3. WEAR SEPARATES

Suits are often sold as separates, and they should sometimes be worn that way as well! You might get bored of wearing the whole set at once, so split it up. For a casual look, style your blazer with a graphic tee and biker shorts, or style your trousers with a lace cami and leather jacket for date night. That’s called work-life balance!

4. ROCK A SHORT SET

As it heats up in the spring and summer, I definitely don’t want to be wearing a full pant suit while running around the city. For this reason, I decided a short suit was a summer staple! It still delivers all of the class and professionalism of a suit, but shows off your playful side and lets your legs breathe in the heat. Try one of these summer suits with a lightweight cami and a low heel mule.

5. LET YOUR ACCESSORIES DO THE TALKING

The easiest way to style a suit is with killer statement accessories. I love to style suits with a wide waist belt to cinch my waist and make my legs look longer. I also usually pair my suits with adventurous shoes like a sneaker or pop of color pump, because wearing something unexpected always leaves an impression!
