Two words– sweater weather! Fall is absolutely the best time for fashion because it allows for so much creativity and depth in styling outfits. Layering and adding dimension is what it’s all about! Now is the best time to stock up on cozy sweaters, leather pieces, and great accessories to give your summer pieces a new life.
Recently, I did a wardrobe revamp for my dear friend and girl boss Jessica Zweig. We focused on building her fall wardrobe and finding pieces to easily transition from warm to cold weather. You can check out her lookbook on my Instagram highlights but for now, I am giving you all of my must-haves for your fall outfit dreams!
1. LONG SLEEVES
I am listing long sleeves first because they are the absolute #1 must have for a transitional wardrobe. They can be layered under blazers, dresses, sweaters, you name it! Not only is it a warm layer for cool days, but also adds a chic element to any look.
You know I am a huge neon girl so I think you are going to be seeing a lot of this highlighter long sleeve! A pop of color like this under dark fall clothes makes such a statement.
This one is obvious. But, just because a jacket is practical and necessary, you don’t have to trade style! Instead of hiding my outfit, I only buy coats with stylish details When you’re shopping for a jacket or coat this year, try different textures, patterns, and details. For example, this amazing studded leather jacket from Kobi Halperin! Bonus–it has just enough room to wear layers underneath.
Blazers are my go-to layering piece because they immediately make you look so sophisticated, while keeping you warm. I have plenty of tips on blazers in my other blog posts here and here.
4. WEARING WHITE
By the way, the “no white after Labor Day” rule is a huge myth! White is a clean, elegant color all year around. So go ahead and keep wearing your white summer jeans. Another option is to try tones of ivory and cream, and break it up with a colorful bag or black leather jacket.
5. JEWEL TONES
For so long, fall colors have been warm tones like olive green, burnt orange, and burgundy. I am so excited this year because bright jewel tones are crazy trendy right now! This season is the best time to experiment with unexpected colors like bright blue or baby pink in every area of your wardrobe.
This goes without saying! Booties are the final piece to any fall look. I would suggest boots with unexpected details or colors to add stylish flair. For example, these Zadig & Voltaire white booties in crinkled patent leather are so cool! Coach is always my go-to brand for high-quality booties in new styles and amazing price points.
I am dying over all of these Kobi Halperin pieces in this post, which will be available at his event in Chicago on October 17th! (Contact me for details.)
